West Sardinia
Famous to host one of the most impressive examples of prehistorical cities extending like the Nauraghes, the western part of Sardinia is characterized as well as the rest of the island by beautiful coastlines, well preserved natural land and seascapes, including a number of natural grottoes, formed during thousands of years, and completely intact. Hosting one of the three airports of Sardinia, Alghero is the focal point of this area, strong of its sea and diving tourism, due to the magnificent red coral riff, extending all along the coast. The area offers several important historic cities and sites, such as Oristano and Nuraxi di Barumini, this one famous to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The complex is centered on a three-story tower built around 1500 BC, where during the first 1950's a fortified village was discovered. Other important places to see are Bosa, Riola Sardo and Guspini.
