Vieste
Demanded destination for leisure and culturally keen travellers, Vieste is becoming more and more famous on the tourism world stage. Variously acknowledged with the famous Blue Flag of Foundation for Environmental Education for the purity of its waters, Vieste is an authentic pot full of natural beauty and culture. As till a few decades ago its main resources were agriculture and especially fishing, Vieste has preserved its authentic charm of an ancient fishermen village, nevertheless with a high standard of infrastructure, as since the 1970's the tourism is booming and lots of luxury accommodations transformed and improved its style of life. Even if next to town, there are two long straight and large beaches, rest of the coast presents several gulfs and many, hidden, sandy beaches, a few of them only accessible by sea. Main sights not to miss are the Pizzomunno, a vertical rocky monolith standing at 25 meters near the Spiaggia del Castello, including the castle and the main cathedral, in Apulian Romanesque style.
