Lake Maggiore

Focalised on Verbania, the area of upper Lake Maggiore is the northern part of the lake basin, the part that stretches towards Switzerland which is reached after Cannobio, the last town before the border. The beauty of this zone conserves small gems that unfold especially travelling through State coastal road 34. Among them all it is impossible not to point out Malpaga Castle, the so called "Castles of Cannero", fascinating ruins resting on the two islands easily visible from the banks. Lake villages, but not only: looking up you will see many communities gathered on the mountains: many micro cultures, able today to conserve tradition rooted in time. And this aspect is perhaps revealed in the communities of the Cannobina valley more than any other, in appearance austere, but gifted with great fascination. Here: a mountain-lake marriage.
