Lake Como
It’s most probably one of most beautiful lakes in the world. Its territory, surrounded by high mountains and various rivers, offers a rich diversity of natural landscape: along the shore of lake, the traveler can admire tick woods and meadows, wonderful villas with parks and gardens but also flowers like rhododendrons, azalea plants and cypress trees, high on the background of the sky, then obviously the old and picturesque villages along the coastline.
One stop is needed to visit the mentioned gardens and parks of some of the villas which overlook the lake: belonging to private and public owners, they are out-and-out “open air museums”, where an unique environment joins culture and nature, with the presence of artistic masterpieces and rare exotic plants, classic and modern style.
One suggestion would be the visit of village of Brunate, placed on the hill-top 650mtrs above the sea-level reachable from the town of Como; the site is well known as balcony of the Alps, with the view of Como town, the lake, the Alps, the Apennines, the plains of Lombardy, Mount Rosa.
Another option is seeing the lake from the lake, that is to say the navigation across it, which is a nice experience, maybe a bit “obsolete” as all that is slow, but it’s worth to restore it; from the lake side, the traveler is able to admire all the aspects of the landscape, from the stoned bell towers of the villages to the hidden landing stages; the most impressive point is the middle-lake where the thrtee banks across each other.
