The heart of Umbria, including the towns of Perugia, Assisi and Spello among all, is a real cultural, historic and gastronomic treasure for the traveller who is looking for authenticity and real proofs of Etruscan, Roman, Medieval and Renaissance periods and dominations, which therefore influenced construction and appearance of many churches, buildings and monuments. The whole area embraces a terrific concentration of Heritage sites, monasteries and untouched natural environments, in order to put the visitor in condition to admire sites as they were centuries and centuries ago. Especially in Perugia, the visitor can witness several magnificent masterpieces of Middle Age and Renaissance art, inside a wide number of churches and cathedrals. This area also gave birth to some of the most important artists and painters of those ancient times, such as Perugino and Puntiricchio among all. The interior area of Umbria is also world-famous for its extra virgin olive oil production, especially in Spello, being part of the National Association of Oil Cities of Italy.
